What version are you using. You should download the latest version from our site. The "Template" field was added in the latest few versions so you should followed the upgrades or you have to recreate the SQL tables.
If you can edit a category and save changes, then you do not need to do anything. Check the updates forum and see if you did not apply any previous upgrades if any.
