My present one, who shall remain nameless has given me loads of incorrect information resulting in me having my auction site on line but ineffective due to certain perl modules missing.\

Since you are asking for a UK located, it will be hard to get answer. There is no difference if the company is located in UK or anywhere. The most important thing in looking for hosting is the service itself. Lots of people here are hosting with our partner onsmart so I am recommending them for you.
