I opened a paypal account and added a credit card to my test customer account but then I went to use it I get this message:

I am trying to set up paypal credit card payments but when I tried to make a transfer I got:

Ask the hosting company to install these perl modules:

Business::OnlinePayment
Business::OnlinePayment::PayPal

OK, did that but when I tried to make a payment I got this:

Payment Error:

Credit card processing error.
Please go back and check your credit card information.

10509: This transaction cannot be processed.

I tried with a second card and got the same error.  I did put the card number in a nnnn nnnn nnnn nnnn

Is that wrong?  Should the gaps be ommitted?

If you followed the FAQ topic you should have no problems, get the business account, create your API in paypal, put the paypal API info in the billing manager setup->paypal, that's all. Anyway we offer setting and testing any payment system for $125 if you are interested:

We have a business account and we are trying to integrate credit cord payment. When I try a test payment I get the above message . Is it a paypal error report? How can I solve the problem?

I can get credit card receipts via Paypal Instant Payments (and presumably paypal ones, although I have to test that. maybe the best thing is for me to only leave paypal instant payments as the option for both credit card and paypal payments for the moment.  I guess I can always add a credit card when I start doing any volume.

Yes correct, you can use the IPN method which allows users to pay by any method they want not only credit cards.
