Problem with SSL, can't view anything in cgi-bin Edit Delete Reply with quote Quote
First Post Posted on: 09-02-08 03:50 AM next post first post
I had my SSL cert. installed on 6.5 and everything worked great, after upgrading to the new 2005 software, for some reason I can't get anything to show up using https:// within the file /cgi-bin/auction/\ \ It works fine for viewing https:// everywhere else within the site:\ https://www.uflea.com/images/email_pic_2.jpg\ https://www.uflea.com/auctions/images/logo.gif\ \ But when I try to view "Register" or "My Account" I get an error "The page cannot be found"\ https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?action=Register&Lang=English\ https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?action=Account_Manager_Login&Lang=English\ \ I have the settings in admin>>configuration set to:\ Secure Server URL: https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction\ Secure Server Images URL: https://www.uflea.com\ \ I've tried setting these different ways but nothing seems to work.\ \ When I set "Use Secure Server" to "NO" the pages show up fine.\ \ I'm stumped on this one. I didn't change the location of my SSL files, all permissions are set to 755. It's probably something simple that I'm just not seeing right now.\ \ Anyone have any suggestions??\ \ Thanks,\ \ Jason

Jason,\ \ The only thing that I might suggest is this:\ \ Is your ssl defined for https://www.yourdomain.com\ \ or is it https://yourdomain.com. \ \ Try https://yourdomains.com without the www? \ \ You would have to ask your cert provider if it is www or not.\ \ Tom

The best thing to try is calling the testserver.cgi from the browser:

https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/testserver.cgi

and as basmajit said contact your hosting for the correct SSL url and configuration.

What is the old auction SSL url if it is working so we can compare?.

Hi Tom and Ahmed, thanks for the suggestions.\ \

I removed the "www" so the settings were:\
\ Secure Server URL: https://uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction\ Secure Server Images URL: https://uflea.com/auctions/images\ \

\

I still have the same problem.\ \ I still don't understand how everything works and shows up fine except when I try to access the /cgi-bin folder, all the links below work fine:
https://www.uflea.com/auctions/aboutme_data/paypal_logo.jpg\
https://www.uflea.com/auctions/logos/paypal_logo.jpg\
\ https://uflea.com/auctions/logos/paypal_logo.jpg\
https://uflea.com/images/paypal_logo.jpg\
\ https://www.uflea.com/images/paypal_logo.jpg\ \

\

Then if I try to access the same file through /cgi-bin I get nothing.\
\ https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/paypal_logo.jpg\
\ https://uflea.com/cgi-bin/paypal_logo.jpg\
\ https://uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/paypal_logo.jpg\
https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/paypal_logo.jpg\
Testserver does not work either: https://www.uflea.com/cgi-bin/auction/testserver.cgi\ \

\

I would think if I can access the file through every other folder using both https:// and https://www. that the SSL cert. info and position would not be the problem.\ \

\

To me it seems like something is not right with the /cgi-bin.\ What?? I have nooo idea.\ \

\

Q. "What is the old auction SSL url if it is working so we can compare?."\

\

\ \ A. I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for here, but I removed the whole 6.5 software except for the databases prior to the 2005 installation, I did not touch any of the SSL certs. So I don't think I have an "old auction SSL url".\ \

\

Still puzzled about this one.\

\

\ \ Jason

It may be for sure that your cgi-bin is not shared for bot http and https.

You may have a secure space only for https html pages only and not for cgi.

ask your hosting company is your cgi-bin accessable from both http and https or not.

OK, I will ask.\ \ But the 6.5 was working fine for calling https:// in the cgi-bin for Register, Sell, testserver.cgi, and My Account.\ \ So I don't know how it could be accessable before and not now, just by doing the upgrade.\ \ When I upgraded I used Mewsoft Auto Installer "New Installation" after removing 6.5 from the site.\ \ Should I ftp cgi-bin folder by itself and change permissions again?\ \ On 2005 is it necessary to have these files, if so should they be located in /cgi-bin/auction:\ \ AccountsSSL.cgi\ MyAccount.cgi\ MyAccountSSL.cgi

The only soultion is your Hosting, ask them to call the testserver.cgi from the https , until then, thne you donot have a working secure server.
