Hello All;
If there is anyone out that that is running the " Searchawy " Script on IIS4 " Successfully " Could you please let me know if you ever encountered the following error when clicking on a link in the Search Engine? ( This is a submitted link that you are doing a search for In the " search.cgi "
---------------------- Content-type: text/html Software error: Can't call method "finish" without a package or object reference at D:/Inetpub/wwwroot/search_one/cgi-bin/dir/sqldriver.pm line 1199.
For help, please send mail to this site's webmaster, giving this error message and the time and date of the error. ----------------------
Here is the code for the line:
} #============================================== sub DB_Disconnect{
$sth->finish if($sth); # line that is receiving the error $dbh->disconnect if($dbh);
} #==============================================
I tried changing the line to this: $sth->finish() if (ref $sth); Which gets rid of the error, but gives me a blank screen. ( This and several other things that I have tried was suggested to me by some Perl Programmers )
I add this right before that line: print "STH is:\"$sth\"
";
And I receive this: STH is:"DBI::st=HASH(0x21b8f38)"
I have even reinstalled Perl into " C:\Perl " Which is was installed In " D:\Perl " And still nothing? I have even gone back and used a previous version of Perl. And still no change??
I have built a brand new Server, And recreated the MySQL Database For the Search Engine, and still nothing, no change, everything is still the same?
Please if someone out there knows what could be causing this MAJOR ISSUE, please by all means let me know what to do, or what to check?
Thank You in advance.

Other web servers are not in the question. We have been running IIS for over 6yrs now, with out any problems. As for apache, we do not like nor care for it.
As for getting a Hosting Company, We are a Hosting company.
We need a solution, not an alternative.
If you are saying that no one that has bought/downloading the Search Engine has there own servers running IIS4. Then I am the first.
Help find a solutions, give technical support. I doubt that I will be the first.
This software is bought with Technical Support. It is up to your company to find out what the problem is. So instead of suggestion that "I" "We" install another program. This should be something that your company needs to do. This way you can better support your program for companies Like mine. |

OK. home made hoby server
To begin with, this is not a Hobby, as you so eloquently put it. This is a Business; we are a company that provides a service to People, we are not some back mill run play ground that you Seem to think that we are. We do not speed High Dollar for programs To play games with.
Since you do not seem to care enough to give the technical support That a "Company" is suppose to give, we will figure it out on are own. Since you seem to not care enough to test this out on your own. If you are the company that you state that you are, you would not Hesitate to install IIS4 on a Server and test out your own program. I could understand if you were giving this program away for free, But you are not; you are charging a High Dollar Price for this Script, so it is up to you to provide the Technical Support for the Product that you are selling, those are the rules of running a E-commerce Business.
I wish you the best of luck with the next person that comes in asking the same questions as I am, running the same Web Server Software as we are, with the same issues. Then maybe then, you will finally install IIS and test you scripts out, and make more money, and make a better and bigger Cliental. |

Mail Sent: Dated: 8/25/2004 3:03 PM
Sent to you, FTP Server Address. Instructions on how to log on. UserID Password.
We did not hear anything back from you. We had the Temp Account setup for 5-days. And no one logged onto our servers.
If you would like to see the Log Files From our mail server, on the day that we sent this out to you. Please by all means ask. And we will dig in the Logs And send you the proof that we had sent you our FTP Server Information.
Yes at the present time we did not have the FTP Server running. The day after you asked, we installed and sent out the information to you. So there is either a lack on mail delivery on your Mail Servers part, or no one opened the e-mail? But it was sent out of our server.
So trust me on this, we tried and we waited.
What else can a person do, we they do not receive nothing? |

You should have contacted me to let me know about the error. Our ISP has been having problems for the last 2 weeks due to the Bad weather here in the South-East US "Hurricanes" about like now, All day long are service has been coming and going, ( Isn't Hurricane weather a pain the butt )
OK... I just download the " Demo NetEngine " I installed it, then I created a category. Then I Spidered about 30 links. I submitted the links to the engine. And well.... It works PERFECTLY :-)
So that means that your Demo will Run on " WinNT4 Running IIS4 "
NOW??? Why will the " Open Source " Scripts Run ? That is the question in now ??
So at the moment we have this?
Demo NetEngine = Does work, Links click-through to there distination
Purchase NetEngine = Will not work, gives error.
So that proves right now, that your script ( As executables ) Will Run on IIS4 Web Based Windows Server.
Any idea's? Any Comments ?
As I mentioned to you before? I was the very first person to install your "NetEngine" on a WinNT4 Server Running IIS4, several years ago. ( Demo that is )
Come on man, help me out. This has me stumped and several of my Fellow collegues stumped as well, ( Perl Programmers, I will not share the code with no one, so it is really hard to have anyone to help with this situation )
What do you think? |

OK. We can do this.
Could you perhaps give me a list of all the "Perl Modes" That are used for this script? This way I can thuroughly go through "install each and every mode" that is not all ready installed in 5.8, until it starts working?
Thank You Wayne |

ok
Just installed Perl 5.8xxx Install DBI Install DBD::MySQL
And now I am getting an error that I have never seen before. Maybe the is a good thing? go.cgi
Software Error Can't locate maillib.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:/Perl/lib C:/Perl/site/lib .) at D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\search\cgi-bin\dir\go.cgi line 20. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\search\cgi-bin\dir\go.cgi line 20.
I did a search over "Google" for maillib.pm And I get no results?

Why would it not find it? It is located in the same folder, but it Is acting as if it was not even there? |

Modes:
Meaning, is there any other modes that make the program function fully? I already know about the modes for the "Signup" And "Manage Account" Just need to know if there are other modes for the main end-user functioning part of it? |

? Awfully strange ?
Well, I did the following this afternoon/evening.
I deleted out "Perl" I deleted out "MySQL-Database (For NetEngine)" I deleted out "NetEngine" Folder on server. ( Backing up database, and templates, and startup.ini "
OK. Reinstalled "Perl" And the Mod's that are needed. ( Except a few ) Reinstalled "NetEngine" And recreated the Tables for the Database. Then brought in my Backup Tables that I made. Then I tried to click on a Search Link...... Wa-La Same Error maillib.pm was missing somewhere. Even though it is in the same folder?
So......... I went into go.cgi and did this
#use Maillib
And the strangest thing happened? The Search Engine link work now. When clicked on, they Actually work? So I do not know what the deal is, but there Is something wrong with the "Maillib" file? ( By the way, I unzipped and took the files over )
So that is what is going on right now.
