I am not sure I got your question, but in general, the programs comes with a default theme, these templates and classes that you see in your admin under "Default" theme, these you can change the look and feel as you like to anything you want, if you want your customers to select amonth more than one theme and you realy have the time and experiance to customize more than one theme, you can create a new theme from the admin ->Theme manager, then customer that theme as you like.

The main purpose of themes are for sites in Mutli-Languages or international sites that can display their sites in more than one language and users can select the language they want from theses made available, for example, Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Japansese, etc sites that can make their sites in English and their local language, some of these languages start from the right to left not like English leftto right like Hebrew, Arabic etc, thefeore the English templates (Theme) will look ugly and messed with these languages, therefore theyhave to have a nother theme that work for these languages when users select them.
