New language

I translated all files from english to french.

Now I just want to see : under the "language' menu :

Define your default language : "french"

Shall I add a new language "french" within the admin -language stuff

and then how do I make the "english" option dissapear from the menu "define your default language" ?

why do you only want the french language? why not have them both?

How you translated the files, on the server from your admin or on your local computer?. If you translated on your local computer and want to install them on the server just upload them in ascii mode to your language directory.

The program is not installed on my computer.

It was installed by yourself on my server under my domain's name.

I guess that the only version installed now on the server is the version I translated in french.

But it is still under the english subdirectory and marked "english" within the system itself...

I just wanted to change that, but it is not very important ...

Now I understand what you did and what you want, always your posts almost unclear.

Go to your admin - > Language manager, create language name it "French" or as you want to be named, it will be copied from what you have translated. Now set your new language as the default, later you can delete the "English" language but do not do it now.

I did as you told but now all the categories have dissapeard and I have this instead :

See these little logos as "files" ...

Also on other pages at the top ...

What happend ?

CATEGORIES PROBLEM

Categories have disappeared when new language "french" in choosen as default language.

Everything is still OK with categories when "english" is choosen as default language ...

How come ?

You need to translate the categories in your category manager.

I did it a long time ago and this is not the problem.\ The categories does not show up when "french" is selected as default language ...
