User online count

Is there anyway to modify the code so that it takes the total amount of users online and adds a standard say 1000 users to it. This would help promote interest in start up sites.

Re: User online count

Hi.
The trouble with doing this is that a user would soon notice that there are always 1001 users on line...even if you chose to adjust the numbers by something odd like 753, they would note that there is always 754 users.
When they've got you sussed out they will not return.

Also, there are as many people turned on by new sites as there are by well established ones.... Just my thoughts. smile

In your admin panel theres a setting for "Who's Online Time Out:" i think its called, you could set that for hours or days, its based on seconds.

So if a person was to log in, your stats could be showing someone that logged out hours ago.

Oh so that's what the time out does... As per the 1001 thing well it's not that i don't have any people on my site its just that I'm trying to now attract more sellers... I get lots of hits in fact I've had about 90,000 visits in the last two weeks and over 500,000 page views. but the trick I'm finding is converting those visitors into accounts because they can't really see how many people are on the site. I took the counters off for the mean time cause it just looks bad that there are so many visits and the accounts are stagering up slowly..

I guess its not that bad the amount of acutions and users I have though after only two weeks.
