Before anything backup your entire site and your database Do fresh install of the latest version under different folders say under cgi-bin/auction1 , use a new mysql database and don ot use the same current database. Finish the new install and complete it. Now from the old version admin, backup the database copy the database folder from the old to the new version from your new version admin, restore the database.
