Rewrite

Tried doing a search for this but found no topic.

Do you or anybody have a mod-rewrite file available for the Searchaway? Trying to figure out how to make the URLS more friendly for the big search engines.

SO instead of :

http://www.theanimalnet.com/cgi-bin/dir/search.cgi?action=Browse&Search=Category&Cat_ID=18&Lang=English

it would read like:

http://www.theanimalnet.com/cgi-bin/dir/Animal_Welfare/Africa

Is this a custom work type of request? If so, I'll put it in cuz I'm sure others would love to have a more search engine friendly URL.

Thank you much! Cris

Re: Rewrite

I think I just asked a stupid question embarrasmentops:

I believe my answer lies in the static page build function.

So, as I read it, if I build the entire directory as static, then that should make the URLS more search engine friendly, as well as making pages load faster. The manual says that this method cannot be used for bidded items, so I'm assuming that is for the Auctions software, and not the payperclick - right?

Thanks....

Re: Rewrite

Yes these short URLs will be produced by the static engine, but you can not use the Pay perl click system with static pages (Not the auction items). Bidding system is dynamically generated and can not be static and that's the case with any PPC see Google and overture.
