cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

I cannot get past the admin.cgi page when trying to configure auctionawy.

My server has "cgi" not "cgi-bin" and I keep getting errors. When I select configuration in the admin I get an error...the URL on the browser is looking for this file:

http://mediaartstraining.com/cgi-bin/sbox/auction/admin.cgi?action=Configuration

It is looking for the cgi-bin in the URL and I do not have cgi-bin just cgi.

Please help!
Thank you,
Tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

your URL is not accessable:

http://mediaartstraining.com/cgi/sbox/auction/admin.cgi

as you described.

The cgi url will automatically detected by the program but you need to make the first call correct as above if you are correct.

Still not finding that path...

Hi,

Thank you for your time and consideration. I greatly appreciate your assistance.

However, it still cannot find this file? I cliked on the link that you provided in your post, but still received error. It is saying that it cannot find the file.

I have followed the ftp instruction exactly the way the install tells me to.

ASCII and BINARY, and I tried to modify the path in data/startUp.pm, but still it is not working.

could you please assist me further.

What should I do next?

Thank you very much!

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hello,

Yes that path will open for me, but I can get no further. If you follow the path:

http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi/auction/admin.cgi

that file opens, but "configuration" link is where the error is coming from.
Please go to the URL and click configuration and then look in the URL of the browser when the page error occurs.

you will see that it is asking for cgi-bin/sbox.....

Thank you very much,
Tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Something is wrong with the paths entered here:

http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi/auction/admin.cgi?action=Configuration

Go there and set them correctly.

I tried to set the CGI Directory URL path for you, but I think the CGI Directory is set wrong, and I have no idea what your home path is.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi Again,

and thank you so much for your help.

The link that you provided did enable me to get access to the configuration section of the application and I entered all of the paths accordingly, but when I click on submit changes on the configuration page it errors again looking for the cgi-bin/sbox....

Even though I had made the path changes to get rid of that in the configuration section.

Here is the path, maybe you can figure it out...

CGI DIRECTORY SHOULD BE: /home/content/b/a/s/basmajit/html/cgi/auction
CGI DIRECTORY URL: http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi/auction

I made the changes but cliking on submit at the bottom of the page goes to error...

thanks,
tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

I finally got to the "Tips" page and it show this:

Help notes for determining your server path's
CGI Directory: /html/cgi/auction
CGI URL: http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi-bin/sbox/auction
HTML Document Root: /home/content/b/a/s/basmajit/html
HTML Root URL: http://www.mediaartstraining.com

I'm not running the same version as you are, and I don't know if you actually used the /cgi-bin/sbox/ path during your installation or not.....but that's what the "Tip" page is reporting as being your CGI URL here:

http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi/auction/admin.cgi?action=Get_Path_Tips

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

Thanks, when I click on the link that you provided I see that.

How would I change that?

I just bought the software today so I'm probably using the latest version.
I followed the FTP instruction to the "t" so I don't know how that path was entered.

I tried to do an automatic upload from the mewsoft site, but it will not allow me to do it. I tried twice and I don't want to get banned or something.

Any Ideas on how to change that path?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

If you used FTP, you should be able to see if cgi-bin/sbox/ was a valid path.

If it is not, then it has gotten entered in somewhere during the installation, but I don't understand why the "Tips" page would show an invalid path.

Please look at your folders through FTP again and make sure the path does not exist.

I did notice the CGI Directory in the Tips page is different from what you have set also, but I don't see where that would be causing this particular problem.

Might be best to re-install from scratch....just the files in the cgi-bin/auction part of the program.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Did you happen to edit the Startup.pm?

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

I did edit the data/Startup.pm

one the first reponses that I received on the forum told me to do that, and added the path just like I did in the configuration page of the admin section, but that didn't help.

I am right now uploading the files again to see what happens.

Do you think that it has something to do with the Startup.pm?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

My version doesn't use that file, so it's hard for me to say. You may want to look at any files you've edited on your PC and make sure the paths are correct or the upload you're doing now may not work.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Just upload again the files data/SysConfig.pm and data/StatUp.pm

then you will be able to see the configuration and enter this time your cgi-url correct.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

I would like to do the auto install from your site, but I have tried that twice and it will not let me do it?

Can you enable the auto installation, or what about the redhat software that came with the demo installation, do you still have that redhat installer?

or could you please enable me to auto install on the mewsoft site.

thanks,
tom

Re: cgi-bin issue?

What path did you use in the Auto-Installer?

The old path to:

http://www.mediaartstraining.com/cgi/auction/admin.cgi

is still active......not sure if it's the same place, but it still has the same problem as before.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

Yes, i set it up at that url and I can get to the admin page, but I still keep getting the cgi-bin/sbox... error that I was getting before and I installed from the mewsoft auto installer?

I am kind of lost at this point I don't know what else to do?

I appreciate all of your help, but I don't know where to edit the cgi-bin/sbox that it keeps calling for?

Re: cgi-bin issue?

I'm not sure what the problem is either. Might be best to take the ZIP file you downloaded from Mewsoft orginally and unzip it to overwrite the files on your PC (or Mac, noticed you run a audio related site  ) and upload the two files Mewsoft suggested replacing earlier, and then go into setup again.

Re: cgi-bin issue?

basmajit I was just in your admin panel and I see that you finaly got the paths set up. What you need to do and do it quickly is set your admin user name and password and then save it so guys like me don't go roaming around in it and messing up youir site. I see you also need to setup your data base and you haven't added your database name, user name, and password to config. wink

Re: cgi-bin issue?

Hi,

I haven't been able to save from the configuration page. After I enter all the information and submit is when I keep getting the error page, where the URL is looking for cgi-bin/sbox.....etc and I cannot figure out where that is coming from.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
tom
