500 server error Edit Delete Reply with quote Quote
First Post Posted on: 07-29-10 02:35 PM next post first post
Hi, I have just installed Auctionaway and followed the instructions, set files to 755, upload in binary etc.. but when I run admin.cgi/testserver.cgi (or .pl)I get the "500 server error, I encountered an unrecoverable server error.". I have checked the perl path is correct and that the perl modules needed are loaded on the host site, all looks OK. HELP PLEASE....\ \ Cheers,\ \ Not Newbee, but feeling it!

All files under the cgi-bin/ directory should be uploaded in ASCII mode NOT binary.

Sorry for the sharp reply in the last post, I have been up all night trying to solve this and other problems. I should have said. I have set my FTP program to auto, and have set the binary and ASCII file types, as per the installation manual. i.e. ASCII files *.cgi, *.pm, *.ini, *.html, *,shtml. *.txt, *.js & all other Binary. If you think it will help, I will transfer all the cgi-bin files in forced ASCII mode.\ \ Cheers,\ \ Grumpy.

You can use our Auto installer on our website, it will auto set modes for files and create correct folders, you will need only to set the files permissions after the transfer.

OK, while waiting for your reply, I reloaded the cgi-bin directory on auto, and sods law it now works. However 5 perl modules are reported by testserver.cgi not to be installed. I have requested my SP to load the modules. (The 5 Modules missing being: GD, Archive::Zip, Business::OnlinePayment, Finance::Quote & Finance::QuoteHist) \ So my next Question:\ I now get the error "Error: Can't open language file /home/DOMAINNAME/public_html/auction/cgi-bin/auction/data/language//General.pm: No such file or directory\ Line 190, File /home/DOMAINNAME/public_html/auction/cgi-bin/auction/General.pm" when running admin.cgi, is this because of the perl modules not loaded or is my upload still incorrect? As it seems to be a path error not a perl error, as it's just the English directory name between // in the command line that's missing.

This error means your installation not correct, the error says:

language//General.pm

Means the language directory "English" not found

You need to transfer all the directory cgi-bin/auction and all its sub folders and files.

After retrying your auto loader a few times all is well. The site is loading. I'm now having a admin login problem, the user name and password I put in is not working. I will however check other posts and see what I can find before adding a new post on this.\ \ Cheers, & thanks for your help.
