I would like for the files under my ioffer.ca/auctions directory to be moved to the main folder under ioffer.ca. This way I don't have to use a forwarder when people hit www.ioffer.ca I'm just wondering if I can move all the files in that directory safely and just reset the configuration under the admin.cgi.
I feel that this will help search engine spiders go through my pages.
All the program output is dynamically generated from the .cgi files and the /auctions directory just have the images and the aboutme directory. You can move the /auctions directory to any location but it does not have thing to be indexed by search engine except the users about me pages and even you can relocated this directory only to any directory on your server or even to your root www directory. Search engine now crawl all your site pages so do not worry about that, you just provide them with your top level domain and they do the reset, therefore all of them now just ask you for the domain name only.
The search engine will crawl the site properly the way it is. Is that what your saying. Even if there is nothing on my toplevel except a redirect page to the auctions directory.
The redirect is processed first by your server and not by the browser, so the index.shtml file is processed on your server before it is sent to the browser, this is why it is called SSI, server side include, so the file is formated with the auction page first before it is sent to the borwser or the crawler.
