I have replaced the standard icons with my own icon.jpgs. On the main page I have the icon and a URL/Link. Is there a way to only have the Icon?\ \ Now\ [ PICTURE ] _LINK_\ \ Later\ \ [ PICTURE ]

Yes should be simple to do, see the categories classes (Category_Form, etc)  in class editor, you can just remove anything that you do not want.
