I need Help.... Mysql Error.. Edit Delete Reply with quote Quote
First Post Posted on: 03-17-10 11:18 PM next post first post
On my install, when I try to create the sql tables with setup wizard, I get an "access denied" error. I have put the database user name and password in the configuration slots in the configuration section. Before I went to install sql tables or the configuration I went to mysql database manager and Created a database called auctions but it turns out to be searchnf_auctions. My Site is a subdomain hosted on a shared site. What am I going wrong? Can someone help me? Thanks...

In your cpanel, you need to add the user you created to the mysql you created and check the button all privilags.

I have already done that. Do you think its because of the subdomain?? Because My Main Domain is searchnfindonline.com. When I created the database it added it like so : searchnf_auctions. Also I have tried many variations. Like adding the Directories /html/auctions and cgi-bin/auction and just putting the files in Cgi-bin and in the root for /html/auctions.... Now what?

There is no magic, as long as you can access the admin.cgi center, then nothing almost wrong with your installation, the rest should be the configuration. For the database, on cpanel the database name and the user name starts as you said above with your site username so if your database is:

searchnf_auctions

Then your mysql database you created should start also with

searchnf_

Of course cpanle shows the connection string and you can easily detect this.

The last thing is check the mysql host, default is localhost but check it in your cpanel, it may not be the localhost.

Thanks
