HI, i just changed ftp user and pass for security purposses, ansd now i get this\ \ Internal Server Error\ The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.\ Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.\ \ More information about this error may be available in the server error log.\ \ \ This is what my hosting company told me:\ It appears that you are not running the default apache installation that came\ with the server and have suexec enabled for this installation. If you view\ /www/logs/suexec_log you will see that it is creating the problem. Unfortunatly\ we cannot provide further support for this issue since you have changed the\ install. Here is the error when attempting to run any cgi scripts:\ \ [2005-05-05 20:34:48]: user mismatch (apache instead of www)\ \ You may need to create a www user and group for apache to run as, or reconfigure\ your suexec. If you have any other questions please open a new ticket and we\ will be happy to assist you.\ \ Unfortunatly this is a totally unsupported issue since you are running a custom installation of apache in /www. As you can see:\ \ [root@server1 bin]# ps aux|grep /www/bin/httpd\ root 11075 0.0 1.1 18192 11480 ? S 20:57 0:00 /www/bin/httpd -DSSL -k start\ apache 11117 0.0 0.9 16552 9608 ? You were informed of this in your previous ticket, and that it was an issue with suexec. I can see from the file stats that the installation was installed back in 2004. If you wish to receive support you will need to revert back to your original apache installation. If you have any other questions please open a new ticket.\ \ \ \ please let me know what to do.\ and what can i do to prevent this.

I have no idea what you are talking about totally, this has no relation to our products or any cgi, this is a server configuration issue and it seems you was trying something that you do not know what and you got problems due to that. If the hosting company can not support you on their server then no one elase will support you on a server operating system configuration. I remember you asked us to install Perl modules and we did as a custom work and you got your sites working and all cgi was working. You have to understand that managing yoru own dedicated server will be a pain and you do not have some experiance or if you play with the server configuration without expecting the results and that what you did.

You should tell the hosting company the truth about what you did exactly , every single command you typed at the prompt so they can help you solve your problem. You have a plesk on your server which handles everything automatically for creating domain, emails, databases etc so you should not change any server configurations from telnet.

Also as a suggestion, you may try to create another domain from Plesk and see if it works or not, you may changed settings on that domain only you have now.

Then this should not change anything, you can change anything in the domain configuration in your Plesk admin as you like without any problems. What I was saying is that his reply you posted above saying you did changed the server installation and therefore they can not support you, which means in this case thatthis guy does not know anything and just answering tickets like a dumb.

As I said before, create a new domain from your plesk and just upload the testserver.cgi to it and access it to test using the IP from the browser. after you create the domain I think you need to reboot the server from the Server plesk menu so domain changes can take effect. Also try to reboot the server it may solve your problems.
