I am a little bit confused about the following.\

We can upload pictures but when you look at the actual page there is a blank xc where the picture should go. the URL given shows \

when i then look into the folder there are no pictures in it.\

The permission for the directories are 777 so i believe that they should go there. \

Does anybody know where by pictures are going?
The only 2 parameters that needs to be set correct for the images are admin->configuration: Html directory path and html directory url, you may be set the html directory path to something else not the one you are using the html url, your url seems to be correct, so check your html directory path.
