How do I change the field labels for the user custom fields?\ \ Can I check the type of field from, say text to radio box or yes/no?\ \ I read a post about loading a sql table auction_format. I am concerned about the ramification of "loading it" Is that the answer?

The software by default comes with some fields as examples for using all different types of form fields, check also our demo for the same thing.

Go to your admin, click on Database & SQL Manager, then click on  Load/Unload SQL Database Tables , then select the sql table Auction_Form from the drop down then click the button "Load", this will load the default samples as you can see it in the demo and they will appear in your custom fields manager.

Of course you can create formats as you like from your custom fields manager

I became aware that there are two different areas for Custom Fields. One is show on the demo site with Auction items.\ \ For instance, the radio box for color.\ \ The other is for User Field 1-20. In this question, I need to customize User field 1-20 with different types of fields. Can you provide a step by step on creation. I will try the above load later today.\ \ On the other Aution Item, can you provide a step by step for instance in creating a radio button. Also, if I create this, is it going to show on every item, or can it be restricted by category, or not show if not used? (Again a step by step how to, please).
