I use Adobe GoLive, some people like Frontpage.\

I don't see why your Dreamweaver shouldn't work though.
1)-If your editor like Frontpage converts the < and > letters to & lt ; and & gt; then make sure it Preserves the original format, this option in Frontpage from Tools->Page Options, then click the Tab HTML SOurce then check the button Preserve Existing HTML. If you did not do this in Frontpage it will disable all the CLASSes in the templates.
2)-When you copy the template to your editor, put your editor in view source mode not in the WYSIWYG design mode.
3)-Some classess and templates are only part of the page that will display as messy if you did not edit as a full page in your editor. As an example, the Header class, to edit it, create a new page in your editor then replace its head part by the Header class.

frontpage is the best one if you want to edit the templates\
I did not really like frontpage but i think i need to get used to.\
Is there any more suggestion ? I tried adobe 6 but it does not work for every templates
